Sutton On Sea 2011

August 2011 G, D & I are sampling the delights of Sutton On Sea for a few days. Despite G’s mildly obsessive issues with pollution and D’s ability to find a way of injuring himself in even the safest of environments we are so far having fun. With three days left I already have a handful of Hipstamatic and Canon pictures. Here is the first set.

Day 2. Assorted ephemera from the Seal Sanctuary and some more heavy weather beach pics. Boys still generally content especially with their water pistols. There’s a phrase sometimes used to describe English seaside resorts ‘faded glory’. We have only 50% of that here.

Day 3. Road Trip. It started sunny, then went moody, then got warm again. We spent an hour in Skegness, a couple hours in Chapel St Leonard, then back to Sutton and the pool. Other than watching the boys and taking pics I have mainly been trying to annoy @LouiseMensch on Twitter and dodging a million Ladybirds.

Day 4. We expected to go home today but were allowed an extension. Not as much Hipsta fun as I spent my time watching the hacking scandal on Twitter whilst the boys buried each other. Here are a few passing fancies. I have some good ‘big boy’ camera shots which I’ll fly when I get home.

Here are this evenings late runners that include a few Dali lens shots. Overall a really great few days for fun in the ( part time) sun and the company of the boys and my Hipstamatic camera. Home tomorrow but more post processed images to follow.

Day 5. Now back home and unpacked. Two and half hours on the A roads of Lincolnshire. A lovely time had by all but great to see Baby J and my wife. If only school holidays weren’t so long we might be able holiday together more often.

So, here are some B/W shots from this morning. More to post later.

…..and finally…. Here you can find a selection of non Hipstamatic pictures, some edited and some straight form the camera. I had so hoped to have the Olloclip lens to play with but a combination of US Customs and/or UK Royal Mail have conspired to delay the item. I’m we can find it a cause celebre’ soon.

So starting with a group of Photoforge/Dynamic light edits it’s straight into big sky’s, wide beaches and bouncing boys.

These are great. Quintessentially English! Love the compositions and the stripey stuff. There’s almost an abstract painting feel.

Yay for trilobites, skulls, strange flower things, impressive sand castles, donkeys and 50% faded English seaside glory! How do I get hip to the Hipsta thang? Is it in the App Store?
