A Wheelgate Halloween

One of the places I took my first Hipstamatic pictures a little over two years ago was Wheelgate Park, a children’s entertainment theme park between Nottingham & Mansfield. It’s a strange place but my boys love it. I used to think it was a bit ‘low rent’ but over the last year or so the owners have invested in the place and it’s always well attended. They have birds of prey, fluffy creatures, lizards & snakes all of which are very well housed and healthy looking. They also have one of the largest pythons I have seen.

I tend to enjoy going there as there’s always something to photograph while the children disappear into the distance.

One of things they have always done well is Halloween. Whoever is responsible has an eye for detail and probably a dangerous interest in slasher movies. This year as well as some excellent demonic scarecrows they have a ‘Scarecrow Store’ in one of the barn building. This has Leatherface dancing at the door and at least half of the children that I saw exit the place came out in fear and tears (including mine). Kudos.

So without further ado, here’s a whole bunch of scarecrows, berry and ‘shrooms.

I’m going to watch ‘Night of the Demon‘ now, “It’s in the trees! It’s coming!”
