I really enjoyed watching the two part Queen bio on the BBC last week. Along with T-Rex, Slade & the Monkee’s they were one of the first bands that I really got into. I remember clearly seeing them do Killer Queen on TOTPs with Freddie in the cropped fur jacket and black nail varnish (should have been a clue I guess but it was the Seventies!).
Still they really rocked. With a small number of friends at school we stood up for the cause. A few years later they were the first band I saw. Something like 14,000 people in a huge aircraft hangar in Birmingham for the ‘Jazz’ tour. We queued from 9.00am with only a packet of Maltesers for sustenance. It was an amazing gig of course.
Long before the www the following show was spoken of as the holy grail for Queen fans. In those days it was white label vinyl for bootlegs, trade under the counter of independent record shop, sadly neither of which are surviving well.
So, one for friends and fans. The best rock band called Queen ever from their 1975 Christmas show at Hammersmith Odeon. Bohemian Rhapsody before it was released, great tracks from the first & second album……and no synths!

And to follow that I found this on YT. This is footage from the same show.
Seems so long ago mainly because it is…
